This was a last minute decision. Was asked out by my long-time-no-see primary school classmate, Darryl, for street & NDP shoots. Seriously, he’s a nice guy who really changed a lot. Who would have thought that he was actually one of the most playful and nosiest boy in class then? Haha!

Went to Kampong Glam area for street shooting. Freakin hot weather.

(Anyway, Darryl’s setup is HEAVY one lor! Sony A700 + battery grip + external flash = weighs like over 2kg? *faints* No wonder he kept complaining his bag is too heavy for his shoulders.)

Proceeded to Marina after Darryl had his ‘lunch’ at 5 plus. It was already very crowded by then, and worse, it started raining! We needed a good spot for taking fireworks but everywhere was congested. We finally found a spot, not the best one though, but I just shot casually, cos it was really packed and still drizzling. To make things worse, those irritating miao jings (borrowed this term from JM, haha!) kept pushing around lah!

We gave up waiting for the fireworks, and went to Boat Quay for night shoots. My tripod seriously CMI.

Had a lot more pics, but shall stop here for now and skip to the next event. Will probably continue this series a month later.

Wah! It’s already the 17th week of my Year 3 school term! Surprisingly, I finished my 3D-related assignments much earlier than expected, especially when I really started on AVFx sometime only last week! Modeling > Texturing > Rigging > Animating > Editing - everything in slightly more than a week! OMG. I thought I couldn’t finish it on time, as almost everyone else had started rigging while I was still modeling. =.= Well, for the results, I just hope I pass.

I hope tomorrow’s presentation, which we’re doing for the second time, will be smooth-sailing too.

Here’s some sort of street photography for our photo essay assignment, which costs me a whooping $72 for printing!

All photos are post-processed using Aperture. Initially desaturated the photos a little, but was suggested to make them a black & white photography.

So far I think this series of photos is the most challenging task. Had to be thick-skin to ignore the stares from passers-by. I’m sure I looked pretty much like a sicko trying to take photos of people’s legs. OMG…T_T

You know you’re a photographer when…

• 1 GB of memory lasts most people a month but barely lasts you the afternoon. (Fortunately I have a 4GB one.)
• You know what aperture-priority means.
• You delete more photos in a week than most people make all year.
• You always need just one more lens. (”Quick! Change lens!”)
• You’ve crawled on the ground to get a shot of something. (I would do that if I were a guy. For girls, we probably use the liveview mode. =X)
• Your camera equipment is worth more than your car.
• No one else brings a camera to an event if they know you’re coming.
• Your family doesn’t recognize you without a camera covering your face.
• You have thousands of pictures and you’re not in any of them.
• You’ve been up before dawn, or out in the freezing cold, or even done something semi-dangerous…all for a photograph. (Remember this? And I plan to do more of that. =X)
• Your friends ask you to shoot their weddings.
• You have enough camera bags in your closet to pack up your entire house.
• You choose airlines based on carry on baggage allowance.
• CS3 is a software program and not a school you attended as a child.
• Your family cringes every time you say, “I’ll be right there, I just need to take a couple shots of this.”
• You look at a gradient of a clear day’s sky and try to find spots on the sensor. (Or are there any dusts on the lens.)
• When you go to movies you spend more time trying to figure out their lighting than trying to figure out the plot. (OMG, I realized I do that, but only when the scenes are in dark conditions.)
• When you lose track of a dramatic conversation between two characters in a movie because you’re too busy paying attention to the nice bokeh behind them….
• When you go on a road trip timing everything to get the best light at the places you want to stop…
• You feel incredibly happy when you walk into a room with sunlight-balanced bulbs.
• When you get done shooting a bunch of shots, pack up your gear, then 2 minutes later you’re kicking yourself because you see something worth shooting. (This is FREAKIN TRUE!)
• When you realize that EVERY SINGLE TIME that you don’t have your camera, the perfect shot is right in front of you! (This is FREAKIN TRUE too! Daim it.)
• When you start enoying your photos as photos, rather than pixels.
• When a beautiful girl is laying in front of you wearing nothing but her knickers and the only reason you want her to remove them is because the colour clashes with the backdrop.
• Your baby’s first full sentence is: “STOP taking pictures!”
• You tell firefighters “save the camera and computer, the rest can burn……” when you think your house is on fire. (turned out the fan belt fell off and the kill switch didn’t kill…..)
• When you get a call at 1am from the neighbors telling you “turn that damn strobe light off”.
• When you reply that it isn’t a “strobelight”, but a flash gun
• When looking at playboy, you don’t see the naked woman, you see art.
• When your cameras, lenses, and computers are the most expensive things you own. (Shyt.)
• When you drive by a frozen over ugly marsh of broken down trees can visualize the beautiful finished image.
• When you stop saying “on the count of three”.
• You buy a new dog and the first thing the family says is “You just bought it so you will have something to take pictures of.”
• When your CEO walks into the office and asks “Anybody here who’s familiar with digital cameras?” and all eyes turn to you…
• When the UPS man says “See ya tomorrow”.
• When your children are named “Canon” and “Nikon” and your dog is named “Gitzo”. (Manfrotto, Benro, or Slik also can!)
• When all you can think about is what lens/gear your going to buy next. (Dreaming of my first L lens already. Wait long long…)
• When you eat, drink, breathe, sleep, walk, talk, crap, sing, dance, and act photography.
• When you teach your photo teacher new things each class period!
• When you hear a TV commercial for the “Curves” workout program for women, and the first thing that comes to mind is Photoshop’s “Curves” adjustments. (I’m so addicted to pressing Ctrl+M in Photoshop recently.)
• When you see a pretty young lady with a tan and try to figure out what the exposure should be.
• Everyone evacuates for a hurricane, but you wanna stay for the pictures.
• You walk into a building looking for composition angles… (One kind of weirdo.)
• You get married and you want to take your own wedding photos.
• When you find yourself nodding, agreeing and laughing at everything you’re reading on this note and realise you do at least 3/4 of the stuff in it!

Our ADHIST teacher fly us kite, as we wanted to meet her to discuss about our project research. @#$%^&*!!! I then spent the rest of the time doing more research at the school library, until 1pm when I cabbed down to Suntec City’s Galleria Foyer with Bear to attend Nobel Biocare thingy, as Hebe would be present.

When we reached, there wasn’t a lot of people, because I was actually expecting more (like people squeezing until the glass doors). LOL! Probably the event was during school/work hours… It’s good in some ways too. =X

Long story cut short, pictures time!

After the event, Bear and I went to eat at Subway, where her friend joined us later. Wow, I consider them as “on” S.H.E fans! They bother to source for exclusive pics and videos from many forums. For me, I withdrew myself from S.H.E forums a couple of years ago already. =X

Anyway……I freakin’ love my new lens! =D

^Shun Jing! I just love him to bits! Always teased him as my sister’s twin bro, because he really looked like her when she was much younger! They share the same birthday, same Chinese zodiac, their Chinese birthday is only 1 day apart and their behaviors are similar! I bet they were twins in their past life. =X And he’s the only relative who speaks English with us. Very ang moh pai!

P/S: I was reminded to blog about this too. At around 1am on Friday and Saturday, while I was using my nephew’s computer happily chatting with the other LGLD, the lights outside suddenly switched off by themselves. Approx 15 minutes later, it switched on again. KNS, scared me to bits, and the LGLD were scaring me further by talking about those freaky stuff. *goosebumps*
