Recesky Twin Lens Reflex Film Camera
It has been more than 10 years since I’ve used a film camera, so I was itching to get a “toy” camera to play around with. One day I chanced upon a deal on Gmarket, a Recesky Twin Lens Reflex Film Camera for around $20. The shipping, assembling and 2 rolls of film added up to $41 (after the purchase I realized that each roll of film were overpriced by at least a dollar).
Lesson #1: Check and compare prices before you make your purchase online.
Received the camera 2 days after I’ve ordered. After looking through the manual, I was so relieved that I paid the extra $6 for the assembly service. Can’t afford to spend hours on the DIY and definitely can’t risk spoiling the camera, knowing that I’m not a technical person. True enough, while fiddling with the camera, I spoiled an entire brand new roll of film!
Lesson #2: If the instructions manual isn’t clear enough, search YouTube for tutorials.
Successfully loaded the 2nd and only roll of film left, another problem encountered – the counter wasn’t moving when I turned the film rotating wheel. Panic again! Contacted seller, Google-d and found out that the counter gear was too tight. So I had to loosen it and pasted a thin strip of foam inside the cover to press the film more firmly so that the sprockets of the film are latched on to the gear, which affects the rotation of the counter.
Tahdah! Time to shoot with the new toy! Out of the 36 exposures, 24 was developed! Okay, that was quite a feat for a first timer. Heard horror stories about only one-third or even none of the films can be developed, so I wasn’t optimistic about the outcome.
Presenting EVERYTHING that was developed. WYSIWYG, taken with Fujifilm Superia 200.

Singapore Hit Awards 2011
Can’t remember when was the last time I enjoyed myself SO MUCH for such events. Haven’t been actively been listening to 933 for the past year, so this award ceremony was a good opportunity for some rediscovery and reminisce of the beauty of Chinese pop.

Míntha
I think it has been a week since I really used the net. Hello! I’m glad to be back, not. This is not my kingdom afterall.
Bye Dewei…before the start of the busy week, when I was playing G sharp and A flat for over an hour, it suddenly dawned on me that the piano makes quite a great tool for some strobist work too. 有一種衝動~~~ I took out my rotting toys and played with them again. My mediocre attempt…
